Module Two Summary

This module focused on the psychosocial and pharmacological approaches to tobacco cessation treatment. It provided strategies to work with clients who may be ambivalent about quitting as well as strategies for clients who are ready to make a change.

You should now be able to:

  • Describe how to use motivational interviewing with clients who are ambivalent about quitting.
  • Explain and provide brief tobacco interventions.
  • Identify pharmacological interventions available for tobacco cessation.

If you work for a Public Health Unit, an Aboriginal Health Access Centre, an Indigenous health organization, or are planning to participate in the STOP with Addictions Mail-out program:

  • You do not have to complete Module 3 (Implementation).
  • Please contact a STOP coordinator at stop.study@camh.ca to schedule your STOP Operations training.
